Training Opportunties Minimize

RMAThe SCR Region will not be hosting a Regional Commander’s Conference in 2010.  This is due to several factors.  The first has been a historic trend in the decline in attendance.  Those Commanders who attend the Regional Conference will tell you that there is a lot going on with the classes and exhibitors. The problem is that there are not enough commanders who can attend each year to keep the top quality exhibitors coming back.  Another factor is that each district is doing a great job of conducting training at the local level, where it belongs.  In conjunction with that there is no new training that we can offer this year before National Council.  Now at National Council there will be 2 great training sessions conducted. The new JOHNNIE BARNES Excellence in Leadership & Ministry Initiative and the new RANGER ESSENTIALS leader training program.  These 2 sessions will only be released at National Council so you really want to make plans now to attend.

You may be asking yourself what is Ranger Essentials?  It is serving as the second step in the training process for Ranger leaders (after Ranger Basics) this NEW training program will help you to connect with and mentor the next generation of leaders.  For more info and registration applications, please visit the National Royal Ranger Website.

After National Council each district will be conducting the Newly revised Ranger Basics and the New Ranger Essentials so if you are not able to attend National Council check with your district Training Coordinator to see when and where they will be held in your area.

We have a couple of national training camps for leaders scheduled for our region in 2010. Applications for all of these camps, plus others, are available on the national Royal Rangers web site.

    * World Class Outpost seminar is designed to expose the outpost leadership team to a successful set of practices, methods, strategies, and tools that will enable them to develop into a “World Class Outpost.” The outpost leaders are encouraged to attend and complete this event together. We have one WCO scheduled in our region for 2010:
          o Austin, Texas August 6 & 7

    * National Rangers Ministry Camp ** NEW ** This camp provides instruction in basic outdoor skills and activities providing leaders with the skills needed to take their Ranger boys on exciting outpost activities outside their normal weekly meeting times. Instruction in effectively implementing the team/patrol method will be offered as a means to facilitate junior leadership development. Also, leaders will be challenged to connect with God and explore spiritual manhood.
